FRIENDSHIP'S
GARDEN
There's
a very special garden
where the flowers of friendship grow...
It's nurtured by the kindness
and concern that good friends show...
The seedlings are the helpful deeds
that friends so gladly do...
And love and laughter are the showers
that strengthen and renew...
The roots are
cherished memories
of good times in the past...
And the buds are tender promises
that friendship's joys will last...
It’s a place of
peace and beauty,
where bright new dreams can start...
It's friendship's lovely garden,
and it blossoms in the heart.

Message
My Dear
Friends,
Looking
back over the year we really accomplished so much in both community service and
community beautification while having fun in the process.
We won numerous ribbons in the floral category at the Medina County
Fair…helped out the delightful High School Life Skills Class planting
dianthus, bluebonnets, and pansies in the Fall and also the Spring ...our Golden
Age Teas were as rewarding as always…Arbor Day ceremonies were more exciting
than usual as we honored our special senior members… the City Pool project has
been completed…we have spruced up Barry Field and the High School Guard Shack
“pocket garden projects” as well as our Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker…
the “Star” flower beds at each end of the parkway have been replanted with
drought tolerant plants…our Nature Trail is now underway and we are anxious to
make our mark here.
This year, let’s concentrate on working together to achieve our goals.
We are a family of souls who enjoy not only digging in the dirt together
but also helping those less fortunate than ourselves. Our continued success at the Thrift Shop will enable us to do
even more for our community in the coming year.
We will be hosting the District VII Spring Convention in Hondo March 18-19, 2008.
This will be both challenging and rewarding for our Club.
In
order to ensure our future within our community, we must increase our
membership. Let’s concentrate on
bringing potential members to our meetings and sharing our ideas and goals with
them. In order to keep progressing the way we are now, we need to welcome new
members into our Club.
Keep
an eye out for little nooks, or pocket gardens, to dress up.
Nothing puts a song in our hearts and makes us smile like flowers.
Also, all our ongoing projects need to be kept looking beautiful year
round with seasonal plants.
The
need to emphasize water conservation, also, and more extensive use of native
plants requiring less water and care. We
want to strive to be green ...or environmentally friendly…and get the word out
to the community...
It’s good to be green!!
