 FRIENDSHIP'S GARDEN

There's a very special garden
where the flowers of friendship grow...
It's nurtured by the kindness
and concern that good friends show...

The seedlings are the helpful deeds
that friends so gladly do...
And love and laughter are the showers
that strengthen and renew...

The roots are cherished memories
of good times in the past...
And the buds are tender promises
that friendship's joys will last...

It’s a place of peace and beauty,
where bright new dreams can start...
It's friendship's lovely garden,
and it blossoms in the heart.

President’s Message

My Dear Friends,
When I feel the need for solitude, I visit my garden.  Even though I am by myself…I am not alone.  The plants and flowers begin their healing powers on my psyche.  We communicate though no words are spoken.  I seem to know what they need to grow and blossom and they know what I need to be revitalized.
Walking through my garden is always an adventure to see what new surprises are in store…finding what little seed or plant has peeked out from the safety of the soil and mulch to see what life is all about.  The colors, shapes and textures of not only the plants but also the structures in the garden never cease to amaze me.  How beautifully God’s artistry is displayed!
How sad it would be if gardens did not exist.  What a lonely and desolate world we would live in without beautiful landscapes of trees, plants, and flowers.  It is essential that we preserve our gardens and landscapes.  The never-ending wonders of nature give us such a positive emotional release.  We must commit ourselves to ensuring that generations to come will be able to know this wonderful world as we do…we must leave it a “cleaner, greener” place than we found it.
Our common thread is caring.  We care not only about the conservation and preservation of the beauty that surrounds us, but also about instilling a sense of pride and stewardship in everyone our lives touch.
As we began last year becoming “green,” let us strive this year to become even “greener”…more environmentally friendly.  Let’s recycle whenever possible…conserve water whenever possible…use native plants requiring less water and maintenance… begin rainwater harvesting…build rain gardens…think mulch… think organic.  Let‘s lead by example.  Be proactive and spread the word to everyone…it’s good to be green!!!
